Shirley Weir
Shirley began working as an editor and producer in 2004, she founded Stitch Films with Frank Reid in 2006. Since then she has produced a diverse range of short films
including the award winning film The White Dress, directed by Vanessa Gildea. Two Point Five Billion & The Beekeepers son directed by Jamie Hannigan.
‘Pump Action’ Directed by Frank Reid was funded under the Irish Film Boards ‘short short scheme’ which screened at the Corona Cork Film Festival, Galway film Fleadh and Kerry Film Festival as well as screening in competition at over thirty international film festivals including Interfilm Berlin, VIS Festival Vienna and at the Emden Film Festival Germany where it was the only Irish short to screen in competition. ‘The Beekeepers son’ directed by Jamie Hannigan was screened in competition at the Rotterdam Film Festival and received print provision funding from the Irish Film Board.
In 2010 she wrote and directed ‘As the light leaks in’ a short film starring Laura Way and Brian Fortune.
Currently Shirley is in post-production with a Filmbase/RTE funded film ‘Before we wake’ directed by Frank Reid, starring Ger Ryan and Brian Fortune.
Shooting has just wrapped on the Irish Film Board funded short film ‘Jonny Boy’ Starring Jon Polito & Irene Wright, Produced by Shirley Weir and directed by Laura Way. The film will premier at this years Cork Film Festival.
Frank Reid
Frank graduated from the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in 2003 and has been working ever since as a freelance director, writer, producer and editor. He was the editor on award winning shorts ‘Joyride’ (Margeret Corkery) and The White Dress (Vanessa Gildea) Frank edited his first feature the highly acclained and award winning film ‘One Hundred Mornings’ directed by Conor Horgan. His other feature credits include ‘Between the canals’ (Mark O Connor, Avalan Films), Come on Eilleen (Finola Geraghty, Blinder films), The Pier (Gerard Hurley, starring Lily Taylor) and the Irish Film Board/Northern Ireland Film commission funded film Five Day Shelter. Most recently he worked as on set editor on Kirtsen Sheridan’s Dollhouse.
He founded Stitch Films in 2006 with Shirley Weir. Jamie Hannigan
Jamie graduated from Journalism at the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2001, and has written for a number of publications (including Film Ireland and Mongrel magazine, for which he contributed a regular film column) but has focussed mainly on film. His work includes the award-winning animation ‘The Boy With The Ever-Open Jaw’ and ‘The Beekeeper’s Son’ which had its international debut at this year’s Rotterdam Film Festival. Most recently, he completed work on ʻTwo Point Five Billionʼ, which premiered at the Corona Cork Film Festival 2008.
